The extra mile is a state of mind! Mental toughness comes with experience, practice and patience. These qualities are essential when life challenges take you out of your normal everyday situations.

But doing the extra mile as an act of kindness requires compassion. Going the extra mile when you are experiencing issues, problems and feelings of depression and anguish is profoundly difficult. But it is the solution . What it sounds crazy and impossible, when the thread you are hanging onto to keep your sanity is frayed and about to snap! Before that happens is the time to reach out and help someone.

I know you're thinking really I don't want to help anyone or have the inner strength to reach out I'm feeling like I'm getting ready to collapse. Yep I am suggesting to reach out. To just take a minute to stop and observe who else is having a hard time. It could be that many people personal friends and even strangers are going through even rougher times, if you can imagine that.

I am not talking about having that dialogue with yourself or others about someone doing worse. There will always be someone doing worse or better than you are doing at the time if you go down the comparison lane.

What I'm talking about is stepping out of yourself, pause the internal chatter that goes on in your head, that life basically suck. At the present it could be, and you might not have the answers. But turning around and helping someone could give you temporary relief. It could also warm your heart, change your perspective, open a new door to solving your problem.

Being kind in a moment can literally save someone's life and yours too. Love heals a multitude of sins. The act of reaching out could just turn your life around in a flash!
